After reaching a verbal agreement with SC Damash and Alireza Jahanbakhsh mid May, N.E.C. can finally confirm the signing of the Iranian forward. The 19-year-old winger will join N.E.C. from SC Damash and will shortly join the first team of the Dutch Eredivisie club.

Jahanbakhsh received his visa and work permit earlier this week. Only a medical examination withstood the winger of a transfer to N.E.C., which he in the meantime successfully completed.

National youth teams
Jahanbakhsh played 42 games for his former team SC Damash in the Iranian Pro League. He also represented his country in several national youth teams.

Technical director Carlos Aalbers about the arrival of Jahanbakhsh: "In October of last year I have visited an international tournament. Scouts of several big European clubs including Leverkusen, Dortmund and AZ were also present. Two Iranian players immediately caught my eye, Alireza was one of them. We are always looking for talented players and we got the opportunity to bring a very talented player to N.E.C. Nijmegen. The scouts of the previously mentioned clubs also assured us that he is a talented player. Alireza has many attacking qualities which we believe we can help develop. The transfer is now for 95% completed and we hope we can finalise the remaining details within the next two weeks."
